Garson Johnson Law Blog

So you’ve filed a FROI (First Report of Injury) with the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, but your claim has been denied.  Why was your claim disallowed? (That is the terminology used by the BWC.)  A claim can be disallowed for many different reasons.  It depends on your particular situation.  The Bureau reports a claim is usually disallowed due to lack of information.

If you disagree with the Bureau, you must file an appeal within 14 days.  That is right- we’ll say it again.  YOU HAVE ONLY 14 DAYS TO FILE AN APPEAL.  You can file an appeal several different ways.

The Bureau of Workers Compensation was not created to advocate for you or your benefits.  The most important thing for you to understand is your employer has an attorney representing their best interest.

You should also have an attorney that understands the complex BWC system and knows how to advocate for you.  An experienced workers’ comp attorney can file appeals for denied claims and benefits.  Call to speak with a lawyer at Garson Johnson to help.

Thanks to the hard working men and women of Ohio for allowing us to serve you. The workers comp system is very challenging. By no choice of their own, workers find themselves injured, off work, and desperate for answers and treatment. We are honored to focus on our clients not just their legal case. The best complement we receive is a referral from existing clients. The second best is their words of thanks and appreciation.
