The elderly population will continue to soar as the baby boomer generation ages. Unfortunately, elder abuse and neglect cases will most likely also continue to increase. And, the media is taking note. Renowned actor Mickey Rooney recently spoke up at a televised Senate hearing about his battles with elder abuse at the hands of his stepson. A new network in Ohio has also jumped on board and is now providing useful online information to the elderly.
Called the Ohio Seniors Network (OSN), the new Website has been launched to help individuals 50 years of age and older. Senior citizens, their families and caregivers can now access an enormous database of information about services for seniors and news relating to various counties in Ohio. Individuals can also get advice from real experts regarding various concerns about healthcare, housing, and elder law and abuse.
The launch of the Website comes at a great time. The Pew Internet & American Life Project-part of the Pew Research Center known as the "fact tank" that provides information about current trends around the word-reports that 78 percent of individuals ages 50 to 64 years of age are now using the Web to gather information.
However, individuals who suspect elder abuse or negligent is happening to them or their loved ones should also consult with an experienced Ohio elder law attorney knowledgeable in this area of law. A lawyer can offer advice pertaining to your specific situation.
