With more than 29 years of experience in the practice of law, Grace is a Workers' Compensation attorney with Garson & Associates.
She attends nearly a thousand administrative hearings before the Industrial Commission each year on behalf of injured workers. These hearings address such issues as initial allowance of claims, permanent total disability and awards of compensation under Ohio Law.
In addition, Grace represents injured workers before Ohio appellate courts as well as disabled workers before the Social Security Administration.
As a workers' compensation attorney at Seaman Garson LLC Grace spends a lot of time in court working for her clients' best interests. "I help people in an extremely stressful time of their lives," she says. "It is very satisfying when we have presented our case and the courts award our clients the compensation they deserve."
But making sure her clients get a just settlement is harder these days, Grace says. "It used to take more time to get through the court system because the judiciary was more concerned about the merits of a case rather than just quickly getting things off a docket," she says. "Now the judges are hamstrung by mandates to get cases off their dockets. I'm not so sure justice is always best served that way."
But it is challenges like this that keep Grace going. "Everyday I encounter something or someone new, this profession is never boring," she says.
My Story:
Not only does Grace Szubski have a green thumb, she has a sunny disposition. "I love to garden and have flower beds and a vegetable garden throughout my yard," she enthuses. Grace learned her way around a garden patch from her grandmother "who had the greenest thumb of anyone I ever knew," she says. "She came from Europe and passed along her gardening knowledge to her grandchildren. We would be right next to her watching what she did even as little kids."
Grace's appreciation for nature extends to her extensive biking trips that take her through the rolling hills of Wisconsin and the picturesque back roads of Europe and Canada. She also enjoys biking closer to home in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. "Those of us living in Northeast Ohio are blessed to have such beautiful areas to bike and hike," she says.
Grace's love of the outdoors matches her other love - the field of law. "I was always interested in history and political science, and a career in law was a natural choice for me," she says.
